MP PET

The Professional Examination Board (PEB), Bhopal also known as Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal or VYAPAM conducts the Madhya Pradesh Pre Engineering and Pharmacy Test (MP PET for admission to various Engineering and Pharmacy colleges situated within Madhya Pradesh. The students are selected for different undergraduate courses in Engineering (B.E. and B.Tech.) and Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) on the basis of MP PEPT merit.

The Engineering and Architecture degree programs are generally of 4 and 5 years duration respectively. The courses are offered in all the colleges of Madhya Pradesh that are recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

MP PET Exam fees

For General Candidates: Rs 500
For SC/ST/ Reserved candidates: Rs 250
Candidates applying online have to pay an additional amount of Rs. 50.

MP PET Eligibility Criteria

Students must secure a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in their 10+2 examination conducted by the MP Board of Secondary Education or any other equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English as the core subjects.
The students who have got compartmental in their qualifying examination will not be considered.
Those candidates who have sat for their final year examination are also eligible to appear for MP PEPT.
The candidates should not be above 21 years of age as on October 1st of the year of admission.

MP PET Exam Pattern

The MP PET question paper will consist of objective type multiple choice questions in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (300 marks each).
The medium of MP PEPT Exam is English.
The entrance test will have no negative markings for wrong answers.

MP PET Selection Process

Given below are the selection criteria for admission:

Qualifying Marks in MP PET: For candidates belonging to the general category must secure atleast 33% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together in PET and a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together in their qualifying examination. However, for the candidates belonging to the reserved category (SC, ST and OBC), there is no minimum marks in PET for them to be eligible for admission to B.E. / B.Arch. course.

The MP PET merit list will be prepared on the basis of the candidate’s total marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Maths in the qualifying examination and the PET marks.

A 10% weightage is given to those candidates who have secured gold medal in the National Level sports competition, based upon their marks obtained in the admission test.

MP PET Foundation Course: A one year foundation course will be a arranged by all institutes for candidates belonging to the reserved category who have obtained less than 33% in PET. This foundation courses will be held before admission to the first year in all the degree courses.

During the foundation course, the students will have to study subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English and the duration for which is one year. After the completion of the foundation course, based on the result of the exam which is conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Board of Technical Education the students are finally admitted to the first year for the next academic session. The branch allotment to the candidate is done according to merit.

MP PET Merit Lists

MP PET merit list of the candidates are prepared by the Professional Examination Board (PEB), Bhopal. The list is made separately for each of the categories that include the general or unreserved category (UR), Schedule Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and other Backward Classes (except creamy layer / OBC) based on the marks obtained by candidate in the PET (Pre Engineering Test). The admissions are done after the counselling of candidates from those merit lists.

Allotment of Institution:
The branch allotment of the candidates for BE courses and the institution allotment for the B.Arch. courses are done on the basis of the PET Merit list which considers the total of marks obtained by the candidate in Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

For those candidates who have obtained same total marks will be decided in the following order of importance of subjects, First the marks obtained in Maths will be taken into consideration, Second Physics, and then Third Chemistry.

If even after that the candidate’s marks are same, then the one who is older in age will get higher placement in the merit list.

MP PET Seat Reservation

The reservation criteria for MP PET admission in undergraduate B.E degree programs are given below:

For the admission of candidates who falls under Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and other Backward Classes (except Creamy Layer) are the reserved category candidates as declared by the autonomous State Government of M.P., in Government aided Engineering College, MACT, Bhopal M.P. Quota and Autonomous and Self financing institutions.
There is reservation of seats for candidates belonging to the categories such as military personals, freedom fighters, female candidates; physically handicapped etc. as per the rules and regulations of government.

Seat Reservation for NRI Quota

The NRI candidates must secure atleast 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Maths in their 10+2 examination for getting admissions in various institutes and colleges under MP PET. They are required to fill up a separate application form directly as prescribed by the concerned institute along with the certificates mentioned below:

10 2 or any other equivalent main examination mark sheet having passed in their first attempt.
The Indian Diplomatic Mission or Chancellery or High Commission must certify from the concerned foreign combings that the father or mother of the candidate is an NRI in that country.
After the admission process of the NRI candidates is complete, the institutions will have to submit the information of the admitted candidates to the competent authority in the prescribed Performa. This should be submitted along with all the required certificates submitted by these candidates by the last date of admission date.

Seat Reservation for Foreign Nationals/PIO's

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved all universities or institutes to have 15% seats in excess for admission to foreign Nationals or Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs).

Thus, these seats will be exclusively for the foreign candidates and even if the seats remain vacant will not be allotted to anyone other candidates other than the foreign nationals of Indian Origin. The admission of candidates under this category is done after inviting all the applications and after the merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained by the eligible candidates.
